Additional Committee reports:

Social Concerns:  There will be a presentation at a future mass to explain the Food Resource Bank.  On February 27, Kathleen Head and Craig Murphy will be going to Peru on a Òfact finding mission.Ó   They will be investigating if it will be possible to continue the mission trips to Peru.

Board Of Education:  The Celebration of Education fund raising dinner was a success for St. MaryÕs School and the community.  At this time, all counts of the fundraiser are preliminary but it looks as though the playhouse raffle brought in $20,000 and all other fundraising efforts for the evening brought in $50,000.  Delores Lammers, of Villard, won the playhouse.  It is expected that the playground equipment upgrade will be a 2007 project.  There have also been pledges for this project, from service organizations, once ground is broken.

As there have been changes in the school, as it stands St. MaryÕs school teachers are using a team approach for principal duties:  Darla Loher is the Office Manager, Mrs. Kehoe is taking care of parent concerns, Mrs. Riedner is the Dean of Discipline, Fr. Alan is the supervisor of the non-teaching staff, and Jim Boyle is the Administrative Consultant.  Tom Noel is responsible for the Faith Formation program.

Board of Education meeting minutes – how do we make them more accessible?  The minutes are available in the back of church, the minutes are also available on the website.  Kim will be asked to post the board of education minutes as she posts them for the Parish Council.

Finance Council: At this time, the parish is below budget for income but very close to budget for expenses.  We discussed the idea of continuing with the Capital Fund Drive for the boiler purchase and installation.  We reviewed the proposed budget for 2007-2008.  At this time we are looking at a 5% increase in income.  There are still adjustments to be made.

  1. New Business:
    1. By –Law Amendment: Discussion was held.
    2. Financial Support: A letter was sent concerning the Randy and Nancy Baker Benefit in March.  Asked for financial support of $50.00 to help defray the costs of the benefit.  A motion was made by Jerry to donate $50.00.  Seconded by Dick.  Motion carried.

Jackie Lembke, a student at Brookings South Dakota (and parish member) is involved in a church group going on a mission trip to Honduras.  Jackie asked for the prayers of the parish, first and foremost, and then asked for any financial support.  A motion was made by Tom to donate $50.00, seconded by Craig, motion carried.

  1. Calendar Action Items:
    1. Election of Committee Members: Motion made that Jadzia by the chair person of the committee with Helen and Dick on the committee.
    2. Review By-Laws: Copies will be distributed with the next agenda and discussion next month.
    3. Faith Formation Update: Update given by Tom Noel.  Will be starting the Lenten curriculum for the confirmation students.  7th & 8th grade curriculum will continue.  Youth Group continues with 2 retreats coming up.  Deb Hennen has been a terrific resource.
  2. Discussion Topics:
    1. Parish self-evaluation topic – postponed until next meeting.
    2. Updates on the current parish & school staff changes

                                               i.     Since the last meeting, the trustees and Fr. Alan attempted to conduct exit interviews, the interviews were declined.  Since the last meeting, St. MaryÕs school has developed a leadership team, issues with Deacon Stan are moving forward on a diocesan level as well as on a parish level.  A resolution is anticipated soon.  Nothing with any of the staff members was illegal or immoral.

  1. Closing Comments:
    1. Parish Madi Gras party will be held on Tuesday, February 20.
    2. Tuesday evenings during Lent there will be a Lenten supper with different discussion groups.

  1. Closing Prayer:  Offered by Fr. Alan
